Location: Cusco, Peru


The mountain is also referred to by the locals as Montaña de Siete Colores meaning a mountain of seven colors. It is an elegant rainbow-like appearance mountain, among the most beautiful mountains in the world.  


The colors of the mountain include brown, yellow, white, gold, lavender, turquoise, and more. The color of the rainbow is created by different colorful minerals and elements in the soil of the mountain. 


For example, the whitish color is from quartz, yellow from calcareous sandstone, and the phyllite compounds and clays rich in iron-magnesium are responsible for the turquoise color. Around the mountain, you can find wildlife such as deer, foxes, and vizcachas.




2. Mount Kilimanjaro

The mountain is actually created by 3 volcanic cones, namely, Kibo, Shira, and Mawenzi.  The Kibo volcano is considered dormant, meaning, it can erupt, but the other two are extinct that is they cannot erupt anymore. 


The mountain has almost every type of ecological system, including alpine desert, heath, rain forest, cultivated land, moorland, and an arctic peak. Mt. Kilimanjaro is attempted by around 25,000 individuals every year. About two-thirds of the people usually succeed. The collective reasons climbers return is due to altitude-related issues.

Its name, Alpamayo probably means “Earth River”, while some believed it means “Muddy River” in the Quechua language (the language of the aboriginal people of South America). 


Although it is unknown if anybody has skied the mountain from its summit, on the other hand, André Genand, Eric Favret, and Benoit Chamoux have popularly known to have skied the northwest face of Alpamayo from around 200 feet below the peak.

The amazing fact about this mountain is that it grows per century, it rises about 40 cm every century. It grows as a result of the growth of the Himalayas (mountain ranges) generated by the Eurasian Plate uplift induced by the Indian Plate slipping beneath it. 




Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa from Nepal, became the first to summit Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. The mountain is one of the deadliest places that on Mount Everest over 300 people have died. So viewing the striking mountain from afar is the best.

5. Matterhorn

Location: The Alps, spanning the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Location: Chūbu Region, Honshu, Japan


Mount Fuji and Mount Kilimanjaro have similar features and both are among the most beautiful mountains in the world. Like Mount Kilimanjaro, the mountain is made up of three volcanoes, but for this one, they are on top of each other. Fuji is at the top, which is the youngest volcano, then Kofuji, and below the two, the Komitake volcano. 


The mountain is still active, which means, it can still erupt. Although the last time it erupted was in 1707 (more than 300 years ago). It has a unique shape of a cone, which is rare for a volcano. Getting to the peak of the mountain takes about 4 to 8 hours depending on the individuals. 


Yearly, over 200,000 people are climbing the mountain. There was a time women are forbidden to climb the mountain. Not until 1869 that Lady Fanny Parkes, the first western woman climb the mountain that thereon women are allowed. It is a sacred place to the local people and it is a symbol of Japan.

9. Denali

Height: 6,190 m

Location: South-central Alaska, United States


It is the tallest mountain in North America and it is also referred to as Mount McKinley. The name Denali means high or tall in the Koyukon language.  This mountain is one out of the most beautiful mountain in the world because it is always looking lovely since it is white every time. 


For the reason being that the summits are permanently covered with snow. The weather on the mountain is incredibly low, dipping to minus 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Approximately 400,000 people visit Denali National Park each year, mostly between May and September. 


Over 32,000 individuals have attempted to climb the peak, but only a few have succeeded. The success rate of summiting the mountain was over 60% in 2016. While climbing the mountain, more than 100 people have died. Despite the harsh weather, the mount is home to some wildlife such as mountain goats, marmots, wolves, and migratory birds.

Castle Mountain is widely used as an example of a Middle Cambrian sandwich by geologists. The "sandwich" is made up of two cliffs connected by a ledge. Eldon limestone dominates the top cliff, Cathedral dolomite dominates the lower cliff, and Stephen shale dominates the ledge

But then again, it doesn't worth it, because some individuals that have such aim never return home. Their dead bodies are landmarks on mountains.
